Dr Robert Gross

Dr Robert Gross is Lecturer in Energy Policy at ICEPT at Imperial College London. He is head of Technology and Policy Assessment at the UK Energy Research Centre. He co-convenes Imperial's MSc in Environmental Technology, Energy Policy option. From January 2001 to November 2001, he was seconded to the Performance and Innovation Unit (PIU), Cabinet Office, and co-authored the PIU Energy Review and several related reports and papers, focusing on modelling learning effects and using engineering assessment to assess prospective cost reductions in low carbon technologies.

He contributed to supporting analysis for the UK White Paper on energy policy in the areas of low carbon modelling and the system implications of expanding renewables. He was author of several inputs to the DTI Renewables Innovation Review, in particular the work on support for marine and other early stage technologies.

He has undertaken research and consultancy for diverse organisations and companies from BP and several UK utilities, to the UNDP, World Bank, the BWEA and Greenpeace. He manages the expert review panel and assessment process for the npower Juice Fund for early stage renewable technologies.
