Professor in Physics and Director of the Durham University Centre for Renewable Energy.
His research interests are centred on solar energy materials, and fundamental and applied research into efficiency- and stability-limiting aspects of photovoltaics in compound semiconductor systems.
He has published over 120 papers, including major contributions
to understanding of crystal growth and defects, the impact of
impurities on thin film PV and on materials and device
characterisation.
He has a wide range of national and international contacts and has recently acted as co-organiser of the Spring MRS symposium on thin film solar cells.
