Dr Ian Forbes is Senior Research Associate at Northumbria Photovoltaic Applications Centre (NPAC) and Operations Manager of the Photovoltaic Cell Test Facility (PVCTF) at Northumbria University. He has worked on a range of PV-related activities from space cells to thermophotovoltaics and has published over 30 papers.
He has contributed PV-related measurement requirements to the next UK national measurement system (NMS) priorities through his participation in NPL's Optical Radiation and Measurement Club.
His major research interest is the development of thin film (chalcogenide) materials focusing on their long-term sustainability with reduced environmental impact, and he was a Principal Investigator on a related EPSRC funded project concerning CuInS2 (GR/N04645/01) that resulted in a patent.
